👋 Hi there! I’m Sara!

I started BlankSlateBody in 2019 to provide actors with the most up-to-date and effective movement and fitness resources relevant to the craft of acting.

My background as both an actor and a fitness professional with 10+ years experience has provided the inspiration for this course.

The main thing that I bring to the table is a body-centric approach to acting that starts by addressing fitness and athleticism.

Instead of placing unrealistic movement expectations on an actor, I view physical theatre exercises like Animal Study as an athletic skills, similar to a chin up or cartwheel. As a trainer, I don't expect you to hop on a chin up bar and perform 20 beautiful chin ups. The same is true for a course like this.

The more confident you are in the basic positions needed for animal study, the better you’re going to be at exploring your animal and character freely.

In the first 3 weeks of the program, you'll build a base of fitness capable of playful exploration and learn the framework movements to kickstart your journey into Animal Study. In weeks 4-5, you'll learn to apply your fitness to the Animal Study acting method and transform from animal to character.

I've designed this course to be the perfect introduction into the world of physical theatre, starting with individual character exploration through animal study.

This 6 week course combines the effectiveness of bodyweight movement that I've learned as a GMB Fitness Trainer and L2 CrossFit trainer and the nuance of Animal Study I've learned from East 15 Acting School under the instruction of Tracy Collier and Christina Kapadocha. It includes over 3 hours of instructional video and voice over content and exercises, along with downloadable worksheets in an easy-to-follow format.
